Where to see the clicks
Plausible
Open your site’s dashboard. In the Top Sources box, open Campaigns and pick UTM Sources, UTM Mediums or UTM Campaigns.
Google Analytics 4
Go to Reports → Acquisition → Traffic acquisition. Change the first column to Session campaign or Session source / medium.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
It doesn’t group visits by UTM labels. You’ll still see sites under Referers (like t.co for X), but for per-post numbers use Plausible or GA4.

How it works
- Paste the page you want people to visit, like
mysite.comormysite.com/pricing. - Pick where you’re posting it: X, LinkedIn, Reddit, Product Hunt, Hacker News or your newsletter. Give the campaign a short name, like
launch. - Copy the link and post it. Your analytics will now show exactly which post sent each visitor. Need a link for every channel? Open “Links for every channel” and copy them all at once.
Questions
What is a UTM link?
A normal link with a few labels added to the end, like ?utm_source=x&utm_campaign=launch. The page opens the same way, but tools like Plausible and Google Analytics read the labels and tell you which post, channel and campaign each visitor came from.
Why not just look at the referrer?
Many apps hide it. Clicks from Slack, Discord, WhatsApp, email and most phone apps often show up as “direct”, and X shows up as t.co. UTM labels travel inside the link itself, so they still count.
Which fields do I need?
Source (where: x, linkedin) and campaign (why: launch, black-friday) are enough for most people. Medium (social, email, referral) is filled in for you. Content tells two posts or buttons apart, and term is for paid search keywords.
Why does it make everything lowercase?
Analytics tools count Launch and launch as two different campaigns, which splits your numbers. Lowercase with dashes keeps them together. You can turn this off under “More options”.
Do UTM links hurt SEO?
No. Search engines treat them as the same page, especially if your page has a canonical tag. Don’t put UTM labels on links between your own pages, though: that starts a new visit and overwrites where the person really came from.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Links are built in your browser. Recent links are saved only in this browser so you can copy them again, and you can clear them any time.
