How it works

  1. Type your page title, and a short line under it if you like. The picture updates as you type.
  2. Pick a color set, a layout and a font. You can fine-tune every color, and add your logo if you have one.
  3. Download the PNG, put it in your site’s public/ folder as og-image.png, and paste the HTML into your <head>. Swap YOUR-SITE.com for your real address.

Questions

What is a share image (OG image)?

It’s the picture that shows up when someone posts your link on X, LinkedIn, Slack, WhatsApp or iMessage. Without one, your link shows as plain text or a random picture from the page, and fewer people click it.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The picture is drawn in your browser. Your text and logo never leave your computer.

What size is the image?

1200×630 pixels, the size X, LinkedIn, Facebook and Slack all expect for a large link preview.

Where does the file go in a Next.js, Vite or Astro project?

Put og-image.png in the public/ folder so it’s served from the root of your site. Then add the HTML lines to your page’s <head>, or ask your AI coding agent to do it. The image address must be the full link, starting with https://.

I added it but the old preview still shows. Why?

Sites like X, LinkedIn and Slack remember previews for a while. Wait a bit, or use LinkedIn’s Post Inspector to make it fetch your page again.
