How it works

  1. Paste the address of the site you’re about to launch.
  2. We read the page the way Google and social apps do, then look for robots.txt, a sitemap, a favicon, and what happens on a page that doesn’t exist.
  3. Each item is green, amber or red with a one-line fix. Copy one prompt with every fix and paste it into Claude Code, Cursor or Codex.

Questions

What does the launch checker look at?

Page title, description, share preview tags, favicon, https, the phone viewport tag, whether the page hides itself from Google, robots.txt, a sitemap, whether missing pages return a real 404, and image alt text. If your page is an empty shell filled in by JavaScript, it tells you that too.

What do green, amber and red mean?

Green is done. Amber works but is worth fixing before you share the link widely. Red will hurt you on launch day, like a starter title in Google results, links that show up without a picture, or a page that tells Google not to list it.

Why does my title say “still the starter text”?

Tools like Vite, Create Next App, Lovable and v0 ship with placeholder titles such as “Vite + React + TS”. They’re easy to miss because you rarely look at the browser tab, but they’re what Google shows.

Why does a missing page need to return 404?

Many single-page apps show the home page with a “200 OK” status for any address. Google can then list junk addresses, and broken links look like they work. A real 404 status fixes both.

Can I check a site on localhost?

No. We check from the internet, so the site needs a public address. Deploy a preview (Vercel, Netlify and Cloudflare all make one per branch), then paste that.

Does it check every page?

It checks the one address you paste, plus the site-wide files next to it. Run it on your home page first, then on any page you plan to share.
